Mereo BioPharma and Sentynl Therapeutics Ink ~$475M Pact for Alvelestat
Shots:
- Sentynl, a subsidiary of Zydus, has entered into an option & license agreement with Mereo for the US commercial & global manufacturing rights to alvelestat for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency-Associated Lung Disease (AATD-LD)
- Sentynl will have an exclusive option to license alvelestat in the US, while Mereo retains ex-US commercial rights; Sentynl will also hold global manufacturing rights &, upon exercising the option, fund a P-III program potentially starting in early 2027
- Mereo will receive a non-refundable option fee &, upon exercise, ~$40M in upfront & R&D payments, ~$435M in regulatory/commercial milestones & tiered double-digit royalties. Mereo will lead P-III & regulatory activities, while both companies collaborate on manufacturing & study design during the option period.
