Healthcare Marketing: Tom Donnelly from Supreme Group in a Stimulating Dialogue Exchange with PharmaShots

Shots:

  • Supreme Group recently announced its 8th acquisition, adding Nimble Works and Vital Works to its portfolio, strengthening its presence in healthcare marketing and communications
  • The acquisition brings together Nimble Works’ insight-driven creative strengths and Vital Works’ performance-focused digital expertise to navigate complex healthcare domains and accelerate data-driven growth marketing
  • Tom Donnelly, CEO of Supreme Group, outlines the company’s strategic approach to expanding its leadership in healthcare marketing and communications.

Saurabh: What are Nimble Works and Vital Works known for in healthcare marketing, and how does this acquisition align with Supreme Group’s existing capabilities?

Tom: Nimble Works is known for insight-driven creative that delivers measurable impact, especially in complex healthcare categories. Vital Works brings performance digital expertise, particularly in data-driven growth marketing. This acquisition directly supports Supreme Group’s integrated platform model by strengthening our existing brand & creative and performance digital capabilities. It’s about extending what already works, so clients get faster outcomes and measurable impact across the board

Saurabh: Will Nimble Works’ founders, Barbara Pantuso and Lisa Reid, retain leadership roles post-acquisition, and how will they collaborate with Supreme Group’s other agencies?

Tom: Yes. Barbara and Lisa will continue to lead Nimble Works, preserving the culture and creative edge that made them successful. Under Supreme Group, they’ll collaborate across the platform with other agencies such as Supreme Optimization, to deliver integrated campaigns that combine storytelling, design, data, and AI-driven performance

Saurabh: How many agencies has Supreme Group acquired to date, and what core competencies does this acquisition add?

Tom: With Nimble Works and Vital Works, Supreme Group now comprises eight best-in-class agencies. Each acquisition has been intentional. We’re scaling our platform but deepening our specialist expertise so that we can help clients grow across three connected areas:

  • Brand and creative
  • PR and comms
  • Performance digital

Our goal is to eliminate complexity for our clients by uniting specialist agencies under one connected platform, to help them achieve the outcomes they need more easily.

Saurabh: What role does Trinity Hunt Partners play in Supreme Group’s growth strategy, and how does its $2B AUM influence acquisition targets?

Tom: Trinity Hunt Partners is a strategic partner in Supreme Group’s long-term growth. Their $2B in assets under management gives us the firepower to invest in the right capabilities at the right time. But we’re not chasing volume, we’re scaling deliberately. Every acquisition must align with our integrated model and strengthen the value we deliver to clients across healthcare and life sciences

Saurabh: Supreme Group emphasizes an “integrated platform.” How will Nimble Works’ digital-first approach merge with existing AI/analytics capabilities (e.g., Supreme Optimization, Curator24?)

Tom: That integration is exactly what sets us apart. Nimble Works brings speed and design agility, Curator24 adds data-rich creative strategy, and Supreme Optimization powers analytics and performance. With Supreme Intelligence embedded across the platform, these agencies don’t operate in silos. Instead, they plug into a shared engine that benchmarks, optimizes, and accelerates outcomes, so ideas move from concept to conversion quickly.

Saurabh: With agencies like Clarity Quest and Health+Commerce already in the portfolio, how does Nimble Works’ focus on “agile creative execution” reduce redundancy and fill gaps?

Tom: Each agency has a distinct edge. Nimble Works specializes in rapid, insight-led creative, ideal for launches, refreshes, and pilot campaigns that need speed without sacrificing quality. That complements Clarity Quest’s strategic marketing programs and Health+Commerce’s PR and communications expertise. Together, these capabilities form a cohesive, flexible platform. We work closely with clients to understand their goals and build tailored solutions that draw on the right mix of talent and services across the group

Saurabh: The press release mentions “AI-informed insights.” What specific AI tools or datasets will Nimble Works leverage from Supreme Group to enhance campaign precision?

Tom: Nimble Works now has access to Supreme Intelligence, our proprietary AI engine. They’ll now have access to our website performance benchmarking, competitive intelligence dashboards, and soon, full-stack marketing benchmarking across digital channels. These datasets, built from 5,000+ healthcare and life sciences brands, help form campaigns that aren’t just creative, they’re strategically targeted, tested, and optimized from day one.

Saurabh: How does this acquisition help Supreme Group compete with larger healthcare marketing networks (e.g., Syneos Health, Fishawack) in areas like market access or patient engagement?

Tom: We don’t aim to match their size, we aim to outperform them on speed, innovation, and integration. Supreme Group’s platform structure means we eliminate silos and move faster, while our embedded AI engine gives us real-time intelligence across patients, HCP, and payer touchpoints. With Nimble Works, we’re even better positioned to deliver standout creative that resonates, quickly and effectively, across the full healthcare ecosystem
